Loooooooooong Weekend...

Well, Saturday afternoon, Joel and I got all of out leaves raked up and we got some more arbs to plant, but we didn't plant them yet, we want to talk to our neighbor first. I was going to babysit, but my brother in law was sick, so we took their tickets to the Griffins game and went to that instead, it was fun.

Well, Sunday was Easter, and we always get together with my mom's side of the family. Since Joel had to work I rode with my mom. After church we went to pick up my Grandma for the Easter party, she doesn't like to drive a lot lately, well, my mom called her right after church to tell her we were on our way, and she didn't answer the phone, which is very not like her. My mom was really nervous, because she had had a bad feeling the night before, and since she got home late, she didn't call Grandma before bed like she usually does. Anyways, we drove over there, and my grandma's house has a breezeway, and then the door into the house, and all the doors to get into the house were open. My mom said she was going to yell into the house, and if she didn't answer she was just going to call 911, she didn't want to find her. Well, after my mom had dialed 91, she heard my grandma yelling for help. Apparently at 6:30 Saturday night she fell, she was stuck between the toilet and the vanity, and she is NOT a small woman, so she was wedged pretty tight. We called 911 to have someone help her out because we just wouldn't be able to, and we didn't want to hurt her. I felt so horrible, when she was stuck she was just saying how she had been praying and praying that someone would find her and she was afraid she was going to go into a diabetic coma because she hadn't eaten dinner yet, and she was so happy God was looking out for her.

When they finally got her out, she didn't want to go to the hospital and ruin Easter, but my mom made her. She was in the Emergency Room for most of the day, she didn't get a bed until like 7:30, she has a host of different problems. Her kidneys are only working at 50%, she has diabetes, quite a bit of fluid in her lungs, a lot of swelling in her legs, and muscle damage in her legs from laying there for so long, they think she may have some blood clots also. They want to do a chest cat scan but can't because her kidneys are damaged, they can't help her muscle damage because they treat that with fluids and she has too much fluid in her already. She is breathing terribly too. So, as you can probably see, things are pretty grim. My mom and aunts are hoping they will make her stay in the hospital for 3 days, apparently then she is eligable for 100 days of therapy. The doctors are saying that she shouldn't go back home alone, but she is going to fight that tooth and nail, she is very stubborn.

The doctors now are trying to figure out how she fell, she goes from saying she doesn't remember, to saying that she only fell 6 inches, she was helping a man who was stuck under her sink. Obviously that didn't happen, she would NEVER be able to get on her knees, and there is a cupboard under her sink, so I think she dreampt that after she fell, and it didn't make her fall. She is very sharp and is not one to be forgetful or anything like that, even in the hospital she was sharp. So the whole thing is very strange.

Anyways, we are so thankful that is happened to be Easter, and my mom was almost out of gas, otherwise she would have gone home and gotten everything ready, then left to get Grandma, but instead we went to get Grandma first. She doesn't have any broken bones, so that is positive too. Anyways, any prayers would be greatly appreciated. My family doesn't think she will ever be able to go back home at this point, and I know that is devastating for her, and will need a lot of support through this. Also her 85th birthday is tomorrow, and it stinks to be in the hospital on your birthday, no matter how old you are.

Tonight I am going to try to make it to her house to clean, it is horrible, I tried to clean up when the ambulance was on it's way and when they were getting her out, but it is bad, she just can't see that well and she doesn't see a lot of dirtiness.
Sorry this ended up to be so terribly long, I hope everyone has a great day!
