Pumpking Patching Part Deux!!!!

Addie is going to be a certified pumpkin pro! Last night we went to Post Family Farms with Melissa and Amy. It was a girls night of picture taking so I could test out my new camera some more. So here are the cute results! (Amy has a few on her website too, if you click the link to the right)

First off we watched the goats... I must admit, I am not a big goat fan, but what the heck! Here is the first picture I took of the night

Not too bad, if I do say so myself... for a first try....

Here is a little baby goat that was running around, I admit! He was a cute little goat!

Addie wasn't so impressed with the goats

But Amy was!!!!
Here is an example of my focussing problem, at times...
Amy and Melissa both wanted some donuts, so we went inside for a while. It was also a nice break from the chilly evening! And Addie was finally a little happy!

After the donuts, we went out to take some more picture... Poor Addie was a prop used everywhere!!!! Here she is by the cute windmill they had outside.... I don't think she liked sitting in the dirt.

She IS our little pumpkin

And the second I saw saddles, I HAD to put her on one! Amy got better pictures of this, because I had to hold onto her and couldn't shoot from the front.... this is the best one I got... still having focusing problems! At least you can see the hat detail, right?
When we got home Elsie was super excited to see Addie, and Addie was super excited to see her puppy! But she doesn't like to be licked, especially in the face!!!!!!!!!

We also found out that Amy's dog was going to be a ladybug for Halloween, and that is what Addie is going to be too!!!! So we have got to get the together at some point! Too bad we don't have a costumer for Elsie!
On another note, Elsie is going to be groomed tomorrow, so she should look super cute. I always think she looks so funny afterwards! I will have to post a picture!

Pumpkin Patching

(Doesn't Joel look cute with the milk jug head man! I mad him put his arm around it!)

Tonight we finally were able to go out to the pumpkin patch! We were planning on going to Post Family Farms, but my mom convinced me to just go to Wells Orchard because her friend's dad owns it, so we went there instead. We were trying to be quick, I mainly wanted to take pictures. It was getting kinda chilly, and I forgot the diaper bag which had Addie's sweater in it, horrible I know!

I brought my super cool new digital SLR camera out, so I could finally test drive it!!! It is SO awsome, I can't wait to use it more! I am not real sure about all of the things I can do with it yet, but I know how to take a basic picture, so that is going to have to be good enough until I can read the manual!

First things first, we went to check out the pumpkins... I wanted a picture of Addie among the pumpkins, she really didn't want to look up, she was SO tired, and intrigued by the grass. But Joel gave her a piece of straw or something, and apparently that was enough to get her attention. I told Joel to take it away from her, because lets face it, who knows where that thing has been! But he thought it was cute, and it kept her attention off the ground, so here it is! Probably one of the few smiling pictures we have of her by pumpkins!

This last picture, I just thought it was cute! Her face just looks so precious! I can't even think of a caption of what she must be thinking it is just cute!

Isn't this archway cool? I don't know what the heck those veggies are that are hanging there, but I think it looks cool! I wish they had had all the pumpkins back there! Oh well though, it was cool to take pictures by. Again, Addie didn't want to look up to have her picture taken! I think in this one she was just looking at Elsie, who was going crazy with all the new things surrounding her!

They also had bails of hay decorated like things, I was with Addie by the spider, and Joel was with the mouse!
Elsie would pose better for pictures than Addie!!!!!!!!!!!

Last one, I was dying to put Addie in one of these little red wagons the second I saw it!!!! I think it turned out pretty cute.... sure her hat is on backwards, and she isn't smiling, but it is still cute!!! Well, I guess any picture with Addie in it would be cute, wouldn't it!

All in all it was a fun night, I wish it were a tad warmer, and I wish we had time to do the corn maze! I remember doing one when I was little and it was fun.... oh well though, maybe next year!

Oh! And I bought some Honeycrisp apples! Mmmm... I am going to try to make some apple crisp this weekend!!!!

Happy Birthday Mommy!!!!!

Today is my mommy's birthday.... I didn't know it in the morning, and I was really naughty for her. I just cried and cried. Now I feel kind of bad about it, so I am going to be really good tomorrow when my mommy and daddy take me to the pumpkin patch. I can't wait! My daddy was supposed to take me to get a cake for Mommy's birthday, but he didn't have time because he was working so hard... I hope we can get one tomorrow, I am going to try to get a bite!

Tonight I got to go to my Auntie Nenna's house to play with my cousins, Ethan and Ella. It was so fun! I spit up on Ella's blanket though :( I think she was kinda mad at me.... but I didn't mean to. I hope she understands! I AM just a baby! I also cried a lot when Auntie Nenna left me with Uncle Dave, I just don't see him that often so it was a little scary. I will have to get used to him more, I hope he doesn't think I am that crabby all the time. I really love smiling!!!!

If you are reading this, thank you for taking care of me Auntie Nenna and Uncle Dave! I had fun!!!! I hope we can do it again some time!

Well, I had better get back to my crib, my mom thinks I am sleeping...

Addie's 6 month Well Baby Checkup

Today Addie had her 6 month check up. She did pretty well. She had to get three shots, and didn't cry too much, so that was nice, but she had a mini breakdown before she got them, she was SO tired!!!

Stats: This was kind of a let down, I thought she grew an inch and a half, but I must be a bad measurer!!!!! She only grew a half inch So she is now 24" which is the 5th percentile, and she only weighs 12 lb 3oz which has dropped her below the curve again... at the third percentile.... I think it is because of the thrush though, she has not been eating good! So hopefully she will have a leap next time... My mom said that with solids she should gain faster, which is probably right because she shouldn't spit up as much.

I went to Meijer tonight to start "real food", I was going to get an avacado, but they didn't have any! So I have to go to another Meijer tomorrow, and I will see if they have any, otherwise I think I will go with banana first.

Joel and I also had to get shots today :( I am not going to lie, it stunk. We had to get the flu shot, and Addie had to get one too. I wasn't sure if I was going to have her get it at first, but she is in a high risk group, so I thought it is better to be safe than sorry. My arm still hurts, but I guess it is nothing compared to Addie's THREE shots. Joel said his arm doesn't even hurt any more... further evidence that I am a wimp! One would think that I would be used to pokes after my hospital stay!
I almost forgot, her thrush is improving, the doctor looked at it and said it is looking good... well, as good as it can look I guess. He suggested when I give her the antibiotic to rub it into her gums and tongue with my finger, but, I will be honest, that is gross! So I use the medicine dropper to do it!
This picture isn't the greatest, but here is Addie doing what she loves best, standing!!!! I was trying to get her to hold on to something, but she only did it for long enough for me to take a picture, then she plopped!
Lastly, Addie had her 6 month pictures on Friday! She did SO good!!!! MUCH better than her 3 month. If you want to see a couple, they were featured as the picture of the day by the photgrapher, Amy Carroll, if you click on her link to the right you can see a couple, just go the the Picture of the Day for Friday. She is looking super cute if I do say so myself!

"You are .5 years old today!"

Well, Addie is! Joel said that to her today at dinner, I thought it was clever... I never think of clever things to say... oh well.

Here are a couple pics from the day! Ella was playing in a box, because who needs toys, right? I thought it would be fun to plop Addie in too. You can tell Addie is mine, right, because I always cut the top of the head off of the other kid in the picture!!! I don't even realize I am doing it either! I just always try to get her to smile, and don't look at the camera because I don't want to miss it! Poor Ella!

Doesn't Addie's sweater make her look like a little vampire, I think it every time I put it on her. It is from when I was a baby. I always try to push that collar down, but it never ceases to pop up in a vampire-esque way! I guess the collar up is in style now, right? Addie is just more hip than I am.

In honor of the .5 years old I wanted to post a couple pics from her birthday (April 10) well, these actually are from the day after her actual birthday, since I couldn't see her that day:

Here is one of our first family pictures, we took one the day she was born, but I look horrible, so I am not going to post that one! So this one was the first family picture we took the day after she was born the first time I got to see her again!!!!

Addie is growing like quite the weed, I measured her 4 weeks ago (scientifically by laying her on pieces of paper lined up, then measuring the paper) and she was 24.5" long, and I measured her again today, because I swear she is getting SO big, and she was 26"!!!! That is an inch and a half in 3 weeks! Yikes! We will see her official height at the doctor when we go next week!

And this one is our little baby burrito! Doesn't she look cute? This is from the first time we saw her with her eyes open
In other Addie news.... she is really getting the hang of sitting up! She doesn't faceplant quite so quickly anymore, so that is nice! Here she is the other day when we were practicing:

She seems to be enjoying it right? Elsie loves it when Addie is sitting on the floor because she is just the right height to lick her face! It is hard to try to keep Elsie away and keep Addie from a carpet burned face all at once!!!

We also got a new kitchen table today, it is SO nice, now we just have to get rid of our old one. I put it on Craigslist, but no bites yet :( Hopefully soon though! I will have to take a picture of it for next time.

That is all the news lately, I just have one more picture to share, this is from when we went up north, Jenn took a family pic of us... turned out pretty good, too bad Addie didn't smile, but we got a lot of other good smile pictures from her, so I am not going to complain!
Addie has her 6 month pictures on Friday, wish up luck!!!! She was super crabby for her 3 month shoot.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Addie Lu and the Soo

We had our first family vacation this weekend, we went to the Soo Locks with my Mom, Dad, my nephew, and my sister's family, oh! and the dogs of course! I packed entirely too much luggage, which I ALWAYS do!

We all left on Friday afternoon, Joel, Addie, the puppies, and I rode with my dad, and everyone else in another vehicle. It was a long trip, but Addie held up remarkably well, she is such a good baby!

It was my first time over the Mackinac Bridge, so I was really excited about it, I don't think I have ever been past Traverse City! What kind of Michigander am I, I guess. I was trying to take a bunch of good pictures of the bridge out the window, while Joel was telling me not to drop the camera... such trust! I wanted to go to a place where we could see the bridge, so I could get a good shot... but I don't think anyone else wanted too, oh well.

When we got there on Friday, we went to dinner and then checked out the locks... BUT we found out that you can't bring dogs in there! How crazy is that? So Mom and Joel had to stay behind the gates with the dogs.

Saturday we went to breakfast and met up with my aunt and uncle, and then we off to do some site seeing. The thing I wanted to see the most was the Tahquamenon Falls, so I was really excited about that. We decided to check out Monacle Lake before we went to the falls, because it is such a nice time of year. And my aunt and uncle always visit there, so we went to check it out. It was really pretty, I guess the water was REALLY low though, so that kinda stunk, but it was still really pretty, we got a lot of pictures taken.... Here are my aunt and uncle on their motorcycle:

Here is our fam in front of the lovely scenery, with Elsie taking a sip of the water:

Me and Miss Addie:

After taking all of these lovely pictures, we decided it was time to go.... one can only take SO many pictures in one place, right? And we were all eager to see the falls... so we all got everything loaded into the car, and started them up... and our car didn't start!!!! I think everyone tried to start it, as though one of us would have the magic touch. Nothing worked... we concluded the battery must be dead, but, of course, nobody had jumper cables! So Dad and Dave headed off in the Acadia to find a store and buy jumper cables. They promptly returned with the cheapest pair of jumper cables I think I have ever seen! Hooked them up, and.... nothing! Then we all discussd if we actually knew WHERE the batter WAS in the Acadia (it IS hiddend somewhere, we aren't that stupid) but concluded if was hooked up correctly.

Then, we decide to call OnStar, the Bravada did not have it, but the Acadia did! After much explanation about the car calling OnStar NOT being the one with the problem, they transferred us over to GM roadside assistance, who would send a tow truck, but first they would have to know where we are... and apparently the boat launch at Monacle Lake is inadequate!!

Finally they figured out where we were, and told us it would be a 45 minute wait... so we decided to make the best of it and wait... we took more pictures. And the kids threw rocks into the water. It was probably as good of a time as we could have had considering the circumstances, and we got a lot of pictures the we couldn't have taken had we not been stuck there. And Addie took a pretty good nap while we waited.

And Elsie even posed for pictures! She was really good too, we let her and Presley run around off their leashes a lot and they didn't run away!

After a few hours of waiting the natives started to get really restless, so Joel and I went with the DeJager bunch to see the Iroquois Lighthouse, which was just up the road. And my mom offered to keep Addie with her, so we thought we had better see SOMEthing! Joel and I went up to the top of the lighthouse with Ethan and Kristopher, and boy did my legs hurt!!!! It was a lot tinier up there than I expected, and it said only 5 people could go up at a time! And it was tight with the 4 of us! The stairs were really narrow and winding, so I was really nervous to go up with the kids, but they did well. Here is a picture I took form the top. It was really cool to be able to see that far away!

We weren't at the light house for too long, because we had to get back to the truck. The tow truck had found us, and the car still didn't start after trying to jump it again, with better cables! So we were going to have to have it towed elsewhere.

We had to towed, back to wherever the tow truck came from, my mom and dad rode in the tow truck with Presley and everyone else was in the Acadia, it was one cramped ride! Here they are loading up the Bravada...

On a sidenote, the weather was gorgeous, it was sunny and light jacket weather pretty much the whole time! What more could you ask for at the end of September in the UP?

When we got to the tow truck place, we took my dad and bought a new battery, because we really thought that was what the problem was, luckily there was an auto parts shop just down the road. The tow truck guy was nice enough to pop it in for us, and, low and behold the truck started! Yay! So we all went back the the hotel for dinner, we were STARVING!!!!!

After dinner we all went to the pool and hot tub. Joel played in the pool with the boys and I soaked in the hot tub, and played with Ella and all the bubbles the hot tub was making, she loved them. And Jennifer watched Addie next to the pool.

Since we all really still wanted to go to the Tahquamenon Falls, we decided to meet at 8 for breakfast on Sunday so we could make it there before we left. But first we had to do some pictures as the Soo Locks that we didn't get a chance to do the first day because Addie was sleeping.

Addie loves Grandma!!!

A ship coming in! We couldn't stay to see it in the locks though, we were on a time crunch!

Here we are in front of a big anchor, the ship coming in is in the background, but the tree is covering it in the picture :(
Almost done I promise, I really did not foresee this post being THIS long, or taking forever for me to write!
We finally made it to the falls, here are our favorite pictures:

I think for every picture we took of us, we did one with Elsie too!

This one is actually at the lower falls, it is in the background. I think this picture if funny because it looks like Addie is in one of those pictures with a fake background or her head is photoshopped in! This is one of my favorite pictures of the weekend.

Here we are at the upper falls! We had to walk down 98 (I think) steps to get there... let me tell you, I was not thinking of that when I walked down, but on the way up it really seemed like a long way! Having walked the light house the day before, my legs were hurting!

Addie made a new friend! I love her face in this picture! We have one with Elsie too, it is cute too, but I didn't have enough space for pictures, so you just get the Addie one!
We finally made it hope around 8 pm and it was one long ride home, since we were further up north, but we made it! One closeing picture, just because I think it is cute....

Super Addie, ready for bed!

Sorry this turned out to be SO long! Hope everyone had a good weekend, and has a great week! Next time you shouldn't have to clear your calendar to read an update!
Jennifer took some family pictures of us with her SLR, so I will post them once I get a chance, she hasn't sent them over to me yet.
